The SafeStep Mat is a protective step riser guard creating a vertical barrier that closes the gap between steps to help protect your pets and children from potentially falling. A quick and easy velcro backed installation allows it to stay attached to the SMARTSTEP® GlowStep step system when in the stored position. It can be used with most steps and is UV protected.

Often times a pet will be intimidated to go up camper steps due to fear of falling through the gaps or they become injured due to sliding through the gaps caused by running up the stairs too quickly. The SafeStep Mat prevents fear and injury and is proudly made in the USA.

We have a backyard storm shelter. They come with a steep set of stairs. Our 100 pound dog couldn't use the ladder and it is impossible to carry an unwilling dog into the shelter. Voila - these stairs are the perfect solution. Leave them steep for us (so we don't bash our heads) then open them out for the dogs. Even the big one just walks down. Even better for us while we are in the shelter we can close the steps and have more floor space.
